What this site collects, why, and the choices you have.

1. Who we are
This website is the personal site of an author. It is operated by the author and a small team who help with events and the mailing list. This policy explains what information is collected when you visit, join the mailing list, RSVP to an event or send a message, and the choices you have.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us. When you join the letter we collect your email address and, optionally, your first name. When you RSVP to an event we collect your name, email, the number of guests and any notes. When you use the contact form we collect your name, email, organization, the topic you chose and your message.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites we receive standard technical data such as the pages you visit, the time of your visit, your approximate location (city level), browser and device type. We use privacy-respecting analytics that do not build profiles of individual visitors.
3. How we use it
- To send the newsletter you asked for, roughly once a month.
- To reply to messages sent through the contact form.
- To manage attendance at readings, workshops and other events.
- To understand which pages are read so the site can be improved.
Personal data is never sold, rented or shared with advertisers.
4. Who else sees it
Email delivery, form storage and website hosting are provided by third-party services acting on our behalf under contract. Event venues receive only the attendee list for the event you registered for. We may disclose information if required by law.
5. How long we keep it
Mailing-list data is kept until you unsubscribe. Contact and RSVP submissions are kept for up to two years, then deleted, unless an ongoing conversation requires otherwise.
6. Your choices and rights
Unsubscribe from any letter with the one-click link at the bottom. Depending on where you live you may also have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, or to object to certain uses. To exercise any of these, write to us and we will respond within 30 days.
7. Children
This site is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
8. Changes
If this policy changes materially we will note it here and, for mailing-list members, in the next letter.
9. Contact
